- DataSight Desktop is a powerful, desktop-based database management system for managing all your natural resource data.
- It allows users to connect with, import and store data from sensors, data loggers and laboratory instrumentation into a logical, centrally organised, relational database. Data can then be shared, communicated, reported and published in a variety of formats, including web-based.
- It has built in functionality to track audit trails, perform data validation, data interrogation and graphical profiling.
- Sharing and merging data is easy from different DataSight databases as well as communication with external databases, such as EPA’S STORET.
- DataSight Desktop is GIS and ODBC compliant adding power to your GIS environment and preserving your investment in existing applications.
- DataSight Desktop is intuitive, flexible, robust, and requires only a short learning curve which allows the user to focus on the management and review of the data set rather than the software itself.
DataSight™ Desktop Feature Set
Connect to acquisition systems
DataSight enables connection to all major data loggers and acquisition systems, allowing the import of data from sensors and monitoring equipment in various file formats, including Excel, txt, csv and dat files.
Hierarchical Structure
Data is organised in a tree-like structure which allows easy data filtering and quick access to project areas, monitoring sites or locations and dates, such as sample events.
Data Quality Control
The Data Quality module has graphical interface to check data quality and modify data where needed to ensure high quality data management and control, maintaining the integrity of your dataset.

Merge Database
DataSight Desktop provides the option to merge between databases. The Merge Wizard allows users to easily merge specific data and entire DataSight databases from one source to another.



Database Mobility
DataSight Desktop databases can be easily moved as all data tables are located within a particular folder. This allows convenient database mobility for easy backup and sharing of data.
Share Data and Databases
DataSight makes information sharing easy, allowing users to send databases (DataSight Desktop only) and datasets to and between other users and non-users. This allows you to share your data with others in your organisation, along with clients and business partners.
Create, customise, save & export tables to other applications
Multi-user Database
DataSight allows multiple user access to databases including unlimited concurrent users. Share your database with other DataSight users simultaneously through computers connected to a network.
Import/Export Data between Databases and Applications
Integrate, manage and process your data in one database. DataSight has several data import and export options, allowing users to easily share data with colleagues and clients. Datasheets can be exported into several different file formats with one click and DataSight’s import tool allows the quick consolidation of legacy databases, spreadsheets, and existing data files into one functional database.
Scientific Standards
Scientific Standards in DataSight can be used to check and control data entered against specified Scientific Standards. Standards entered into DataSight can be used for data analysis, checking data while importing and for creating tabular reports for specific variables within a database.



Conversion Tool
DataSight includes a versatile free-hand conversion tool for the manipulation and calculation of your data. The Conversion tool is extremely flexible and powerful, allowing the user to use look up tables, free hand formulas, and off-set adjustments in proportion to time for both absolute and percentage changes to data.


Data Filtering for Customisable Views
The flexible filter tool allows users to query large datasets, selecting a single filter or a number of filters to isolate a subset of data and display it both graphically and in table format.
Tabular Reports
DataSight comes with a variety of reports to extract and view your data either graphically or in a tabular format, including Annual, Monthly and Daily Reports, Special Meteorological Reports and Tabular Summary reports. These allow users to create the following (and more):

Report Creator
Use DataSight’s built-in Report Creator to design custom layouts and reports. Report Creator is also a report management tool, enabling you to share your reports and templates with other users.
Manual Data Entry (MDE)
No fuss data entry with the Manual Data Entry tool. Simply select the monitoring location, date and time and enter the data. MDE forms can be created to replicate your field datasheets so data can be keyed in quickly.
Gauging Calculator
DataSight’s Gauging tool is a discharge calculator and flow measurement reporting solution for storing all your channel, stream and river gauging data. The intuitive interface allows simple gauging data entry for all gaugings completed in the field and one-click reporting for site analysis.



Plug-In Capability
Plug-Ins enable third parties to develop their own applications that access the data within DataSight. Mannings Conversion and Automatic Import are example plug-ins created for general use with DataSight’s SDK.
Graphical Profiling
DataSight’s excellent graphing tool makes presentation of your data a breeze. View years of data quickly by simply dragging and dropping variables onto the graphing window. Users can easily create, customise, save & export graphs with a few clicks.



Scheduler
DataSight has a facility for automated report generation using saved graphs, datasheets and reports. The output can be in a pdf, rtf, html, jpg or Excel format. Reports can also be regenerated periodically, such as the creation of a daily or weekly report containing the most recent data.
Control Documents
Manage files, attachments and essential database information within your database with Control Documents.
